Matching copies are consumed to strengthen the result. In 2048, two 2 tiles merge into a 4; RPGs can apply this principle to duplicate items.

1. Adjacent twos can be merged into a four

- Show the fusion recipe and result before consuming copies.

## How it works

Duplicate copies are consumed to strengthen a chosen item, making duplicates a progression resource.

## Variants

### Action → reward

<a id="duplicate-fusion-loop"></a>

- Obtain duplicate copies → consume them to develop the main item. <a id="duplicate-fusion-repeat"></a>
- Raise rank using copies from a defined group. <a id="duplicate-fusion-option-2"></a>
- Choose between fusion and keeping a copy for another build. <a id="duplicate-fusion-option-3"></a>

## Design example

A duplicate talisman is consumed to raise the main talisman’s rank and increase its charge.

## Context and limits

A systematic RPG grind reference: 110 mechanics and 330 variants in 18 sections. Four layers answer different questions: what the player repeats, what develops, how rewards arrive and what constrains the loop. It covers single-player RPGs, ARPGs, MMORPGs and adjacent management and accumulation systems. Every mechanic has an explanation, variants and a hypothetical example; coverage, combinations and verified game observations follow the catalog.
