A short sequence of actions and clear feedback makes results easy to understand. Quick retries support continued play.

1. Adjacent twos can be merged into a four

- Make feedback explain results while leaving a convenient place to stop.

## How it works

A short sequence of actions and expressive feedback maintains understanding of the result and the desire to continue.

## Variants

### Variants and applications

- Short cycle “action → result → new action”: the result quickly creates a reason to continue
- Instant Feedback: The game immediately confirms a hit, decision, collection or improvement
- Expressive action reinforcement: sound, animation, vibration and effects make repetition enjoyable
- Rhythmic repetition: movements and actions develop into a stable, pleasant rhythm
- Combo: a sequence of successful actions increases the result and encourages you to maintain the chain
- Cascades: one action triggers a series of subsequent events and rewards
- Visual ordering: field clearing, space filling, sorting and restoring provide local completion
- Alternating tension and release: a dangerous episode is replaced by relief, after which the next cycle begins

## Context and limits

A map of 160 techniques for analyzing interest, returns, costs and pressure on the player. Involvement in itself does not mean dependence; the presence of separate mechanics does not determine the diagnosis or prove causation. This is the author's classification for critical analysis of design, and not a scientifically established list of the causes of gaming disorder. Assess context, audience, voluntariness of participation, and opportunity to stop.
